Our Philosophy

The purpose of Evergreen West is to meet the developmental, physical, emotional, social, educational, intellectual and spiritual needs of the program participants regardless of their level of independence or disability.  Our mission is to create and maintain a safe, nurturing home that meets the needs of each individual in a positive and normalizing environment that supports quality of life with individual choice and encourages growth and development. Program services at the home will be provided with compassion and exceptional care with the collaboration of the individual’s families, service providers and the community to promote each youth to fully develop their potential capabilities.

Within the context of the Evergreen West philosophy, the program provides 24-hour care and supervision to individuals with intellectual and or developmental challenges in a home setting as part of the individual's journey to living a normalized and fulfilling life. The residents will be provided on-going critical skills training and behavioral remediation with a planned program of group living in a community-based setting with regular involvement in community based education, recreational and occupational activities. The individuals also receive training in life skills and guidance and mentoring leading towards healthy behaviors.

Evergreen West’s program is designed to enhance each individual's overall skills in self-care, communication, relationships, and community and social integration while encouraging decision making and self-choice. Each individual will be assisted with exercising their rights and be supported in living a happy and healthy life in the home and in the community setting
